Dapo Abiodun Commandos (DAC) Condemn CRPP Over Ogun Gov
A frontline social political organisation, Dapo Abiodun Commandos, DAC, have condemned the attack on the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun by a faceless group calling itself Coalition of Registered Political Parties.
The condemnation was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of DAC, Hon. Adeniyi Onabanjo and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta.
The faceless group had called on anti graft agencies in the country to investigate governor Abiodun over a worthless petition authored by the uninformed and disgraced former Local Government chairman of ijebu East local government in the state, Mr Wale Adedayo. It is obvious the Chairman was not in sink with what is happening in the Local government after losing to opposition party during the just concluded Governorship Election. Not satisfied with his defeat he has also gone ahead to make such a baseless accusation. It is a fact that the Allocation to the local government is not enough to pay all the first line charges of the local government and the state government have been supporting this payment in the last 26 months. It’s sad that he would now go and make such a baseless accusation.
Onabanjo further stated that the faceless group was only trying to seek attention from the state governor who since assumption of office has been very focused on putting Ogun State on global map of development through execution of people oriented programs, across the 20 local government areas of Ogun state.
Because there is so much misconception about LG operations, media commentators often look at issues at face value and rush to judgment instead of doing a little investigation.
The structure in LGs in Ogun State is not different from the one in other states. JAAC has its responsibilities as a constitutional provision, the organ that identifies and sorts out first line charges. This came about after long agitations by teachers and LG workers over the delay in the payment of their salaries and emoluments.
In the last 26 months Wale Adedayo has been chairman, he cannot claim he did not attend all meetings where this issues where discussed as the records show that he attended JAAC meetings, where LG funds are disbursed after being received from the Federation Account, 15 times. His sudden claim of zero allocation to councils in Ogun State is therefore curious, to say the least.
Records show that, like all other LG chairmen, he collects N3 million every month as imprest, which to date he has collected a total N78 million Naira as imprest while his council also shared from all the allocations given since 2019 when Governor Abiodun came on board, including the N5.2 billion allocation shared in August this year; the N4.4 billion shared in July, the 5.2bn shared in June and the N4.5 billion shared in May. So, where did he get his zero allocation from?
The statement however called on the good people of Ogun State to discountenance a few disgruntled elements and opposition party sponsored agent polluting the political space for cheap publicity.
The statement reads in part, ‘It has come to our attention the call by a faceless group calling itself coalition of political parties on their evil agenda to tarnish the good image of our amiable governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. We condemn their call on EFCC and ICPC to disturb the governor through unwarranted investigation.
“This group is only looking for attention as there’s no substance to their claim. We call on the anti graft agencies to ignore them and not waste their time on needless investigation.
It’s rather disheartening that it’s only one local government out of the twenty local government that is making this claim, it’s obvious that the whole charade is sponsored by the enemies of Ogun state progress.
“We equally call on the good people of Ogun State to shun this faceless group and keep praying for our governor as he continues his good work in the state.
